How to Remain Indispensable in the Age of AI
Artificial intelligence isn’t just about smarter tools—it’s reshaping how we work, live, and grow. And here’s the truth: AI isn’t waiting for anyone to catch up. The World Economic Forum predicts that 85 million jobs may be displaced by 2025, but it also projects 97 million new roles tied to AI and advanced technologies. That’s not just a shift—it’s a wake-up call. I’ve always believed that preparation beats panic, and in the age of AI, that means investing in your skills and knowledge to stay ahead of the curve. Waiting on the sidelines isn’t an option if you want to thrive.
A major study by McKinsey Global Institute found that 14% of the global workforce may need to transition to entirely new occupational categories by 2030. This isn’t just a challenge; it’s an opportunity for those willing to step up. As Harvard Business Review emphasizes, “reskilling efforts should be ongoing, dynamic, and closely tied to evolving market needs.” Whether it’s learning how to analyze data, improving your tech literacy, or embracing creative problem-solving, the people who adapt are the ones who will lead in the future.
And here’s the good news: you don’t need to become a tech expert overnight. Start small. Get familiar with AI in your daily life—use it at work, experiment with tools at home, and ask questions. Take classes, whether in person with a coach, through trusted online resources, or even at your local university or community center. The most important step is the first one. Because in this fast-changing world, the best way to protect your job is to get curious, stay open, and never stop learning.
